An interesting take on Afghanistan

Matthew Hoh, has recently resigned from the US. State Dept.

His reasons are well worth a study.

Enter Matthew Hoh, in your browser, as it is getting more sites by the minute.  He is an ex-marine, a foreign service diplomat who has studied the situation and been in there with villagers.

Here is the Washington Post site.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/26/AR2009102603394.html

He knows the games up Matty, He is one of the few who have the guts to say so while still in a job(or in his case the prospect of another job ) Unlike some recent top military who wait to make criticism from the other side of the retirement fence . No doubt if this guy continues to make noise he will get flak and venom from the establishment , just like WMD inspector Scott Ritter did .

Re: An interesting take on Afghanistan
Thanks for that little gem Matty. We have talked about the fact that Afghanistan is now descending into a disorganised quagmire. The second set of fraudulent election s has been postponed, Karzai declared the winner, Abdullah has resigned and it can be expected that Karzai will offer him a minor ministery, just to look good with the public.

Within a year Karzai time is up, he is now so unpopular after everyone noticed that he has been cheating, that he cannot possibly stop the positioning of warlords already jostling to form new alliances with possible power as a reward.
Civil war will only make it harder for NATO soldiers, as some of their current allies might be their enemy tommorrow. Dostum, who is busy buying arms with the proceeds of his heroin deals will soon make his presence felt, he always was out for the top job and will be smarting for it now, if he can find a common base with Abdullah, we have the makings of one allmighty civil war on our hands, with every side trying to bring NATO behind their actions.

Mathew Hoh is off course right, NATOP forces have outstayed their welsome and are now seen as occupants, not peacemeakers or democratisers, thats all over now and we should get these men home very soon. nevermind
