I am researching the Flaxman name. My Grandmother, Doris Flaxman (that's her maiden name) was born in Haddiscoe. Her Uncle, Absalom Clayton Flaxman, was killed in action in WW1 in the Battle of the Somme. He's buried in France and is listed on the commonwealth war graves commision website. Although he's buried in France his name is on a tombstone in Haddiscoe and is on the war memorial there.
I'd be interested to know if anyone knows of the Flaxman name and of any living relatives.
Many thanks!
If you use the family search you can see that there are several FLAXMAN families living in Haddiscoe in 1881.
I entered Absalom FLAXMAN and it appears this is a family name. A much older man than your Uncle. But there are several more on the 1881 census.
http://www.familysearch.org/ENG/search/frameset_search.asp Select British Isles census 1881 from the drop down. If you click on next household you can browse all the names in Haddiscoe.
