Wherry tour - Hathor's Farewell - begins 25th July
The last section of this year's wherry tour begins on 25th July with a sailing from Wroxham to Ludham Bridge - there are still spaces left. Spend a day afloat on our beautiful 1905 pleasure wherry Hathor, and see the Broads in style!
Other sailings (book in advance) and viewings (free of charge) continue
daily until 18th September
. Hathor will cover the rivers from her base at Wroxham as far as How Hill, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft/Oulton, Geldeston, Norwich, and points in between. Highlights include crossing Breydon Water, sailing to Pull's Ferry, passing through Mutford Lock, and attendance at events including Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival (5/6 Sept), the Vintage Wooden Boat Association rally (21-24 August, Beccles), and Thorpe St Andrew Festival (29th August). On 27th and 28th July, Hathor and Albion will be sailing together. There's also a photo competition running over the course of the tour (see website below). On 17th September there is a Farewell Dinner in Wroxham - all welcome.
This is Hathor's farewell tour!
We hope it will not be a permanent farewell, but we are heavily dependent on donations and the income from the tour (all booking fees go direct to the Trust caring for Hathor and wherry yachts Olive and Norada). Hathor must cease sailing this September until such time as we can carry out repairs and undergo a hull inspection - realistically not until 2013. If you appreciate seeing the glorious sight of wherry sails on the Broads, please come and help us to keep ours sailing. Thank you!
