Music [8] Mystery Norwich Jazz Festival?

I have an Uncle in London who is a keen jazz fan.  Someone has told him that Norwich has a jazz festival each year in early May that is very popular with Americans (apparently) - but I can't find any details.

Can anyone help?  Apparently it happens "at the airport", which doesn't sound right - but what can I tell you.  I thought it might be something in the forum where there's an US air force library but that seems tenuous to say the least.  I did find something about the Lord Mayors show but that it later in the year.

So, if you know anything please post it here.  Thank you Smile [:)]

Hmm [^o)] Re: Mystery Norwich Jazz Festival?

Thank you Alan for the link - will follow it up and see if it is what was wanted - however, must confess your email left me a tad confused - I take it AFAIK means "as far as I know" (and is this some Jazz aficionado's slang?) - but I am not sure to which flag you are referring (not sure I mentioned a flag - though bunting at these things always goes down well I think).  Illumination gratefully received.

Kind regards

Huw

Thank you Monkey Trousers for the following link - which I think answers the question most satisfactorily.

Re: Mystery Norwich Jazz Festival?
Yeah -
Sad loss to Norwich that Festival going.
It got absorbed many, many years ago into the Norfolk & Norwich festival. Which explains a about the Jazz we get N&N Festival time, which is fine...cool...okay.
I was talking to a local jazz muso only tonight about the lack of a jazz club in Central Norwich. We desperately need a something along the lines of Vortex in London. But no one has the money, necessary youthful energy, Jazz savvy or inclination to set it up. (including moi!) Maybe one day. Then we might get an more exciting rather than safe Jazz Festival back in Norwich. Come on young entrepreneurs. Ther's a buck to be made!
