Trevor Ivory, the Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman for North Norfolk will be competing alongside teammates from the North Walsham Round Table in the Norwich Dragon Boat Race at the end of the month.
The annual event, held on Whitlingham Broad, raises money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which finds lifesaving bone marrow and blood stem cell donors for leukaemia patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.
“This is a fantastic cause and I am delighted to be able to show my support for the Trust’s work. Leukaemia is a terrible disease but the treatment itself can also be fatal to a patient if suitable donors are not available,” said Trevor.
In a twist, Trevor has also agreed to take part in fancy dress, although when asked what he would be dressing up as he explained, “The scary part is that I do not know what I shall be wearing. I am not being told what my costume is until I turn up on the morning – I just hope that the photos do not ruin my political career before it has even started!”
Trevor is asking local people to help him to raise funds by sponsoring him. If you would like to sponsor Trevor you can do so online via trevorivory.com or by sending a cheque, made payable to the Anthony Nolan Trust, to him at 8 Louden Road, Cromer NR27 9EF. If you are a taxpayer do not forget to include your full name and address so that the trust can reclaim the tax on your donation.
