But why on earth, in this electronic age, can't you publish the yachting results on Monday instead of waiting until Thursday - when most competitors are aleady thinking about the following weekend. It's not as if Monday's editions are usually oversubscribed with news ...

I have to note the absence of an adequate (alright any ...) response. Many years ago, the yachting results were produced for Tuesday's EDP. Of course in those days, yachting correspondents had to press button B on yacht club pay 'phones before 6.00pm (?) on Sunday evenings and spell out all the difficult words.

And steam trains were faster to Liverpool Street ...
