Royal Albert Bone China.

Just a couple of questions about Royal Albert (may also be relevant to other makers).

1, Does anyone know why some pieces have the copyright date on them and some don't? for example I have 2 similar plates from the same series (old english roses) one has copyright 1939 the other does not?

2, I have come accross quite a few pieces where the makers mark has been damaged, ie - a cross scratched through it which looks deliberate, i think this is known as "spoiling". Anyone know why this is done?

Thanks.

Answer to your second query would most probably be that they are "seconds" or faulty.John
