Synagogue Street, Norwich

Does Synagogue Street, Norwich, still exist? My grandparents, Frederick WELLS and Emily, nee HALE, lived at no 13 on 2nd April 1911, when the census was taken. Their baby daughter was just hours old, and became my mother. Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi there,
I don't think Synagogue Street is still there, but try the following link for a photo of houses on the street from a website - George Plunkett's Photographs of old Norwich - a really fantastic record of buildings in Norwich. I found this site while researching my family from Norwich, who lived on Thorn Lane
http://dtnlpkrd.homelinux.net/Megapics/Streets/S/Synagogue%20St%2015%20to%2025%20%5B2164%5D%201938-03-14.jpg
Many of the old streets were demolished in slum clearances and of course, during the 2nd world war, so photos such as these are invaluable when you are trying to visualise where your family came from. The photos are copyrighted, but if you visit the site, there's an email address to the family should you wish to contact them.
