Sorry Bemused. A bit childish I agree.
However a certain 7 year old local girl has reached the finals of a Facebook challenge to find a new face for "Kinder" chocolates, which I alluded to ,by error, earlier in the thread. Her first name being "Tatler" followed by the Father's name. I wish her well.
At least it was a good magazine mum was reading at the time. No S&M smut please.

I shall probably fall asleep in the 2nd part of Merlin this evening. Having discovered how to use the controls ,previously guarded by MrsE I have discovered much on the far reaches of the TV choice . But sometimes you have to watch fantasy. Not the Smith variety. Mostly old history we were never told about.....1920s as against the 1520's.

My nothing much today is the coining of new names or appellations
especially in local government. I daresay there are lots of examples
but the one that got up my nose this morning was this- the office
of coroner to Great Yarmouth, an office which has existed since the
15th Century or something is to be abolished. Fair enough- it doesn't
get many inquests and a coroner's office covering a larger area will no
doubt be more efficient. But the term for the new office area is given
as "Greater Norfolk"! Not greater Norwich which in the days of suburbs
etc is annoying but conveys some meaning, but Greater Norfolk. Surely
somewhere is either in Norfolk or it isn't. I suspect they mean Norfolk
with parts of NE Cambridgeshire- I bet Wisbech & district would be
miffed to be termed Lesser Cambridgeshire or carelessly slipped into
Norfolk. Pers'nally I find it an annoying and sloppy term.

tsk tsk
allow moi to soothe your troubled brow
I expect they meant Greater not in the spatial sense of the word, old thing, but in the sense of grandeur
Grander than Suffolk, for example
there
better now?

Thankyou Wallis for that balm-unfortunately I find Greater Norfolk about as soothing as Tiger Balm on the more sensitive bits Same as Humberside and Tyneside and all the mickey mouse names imposed on us whilst the 1000 year old ones are rubbed from the record.

My nothing much today Blessed people messing about with Winnie the Pooh. As if Disney had not done enough now the trustees of Milne's work have allowed a new "character" Lottie the Otter. Its not just pathetic ( dear Eeyore) it's messing about with a national institution, and typical of now-greedy, lacking in imagination and originality and squeezing the last drop of cash out of the creativity of others.
