It's out of my hands now (script and Norwich City)
I sent my script out to some contacts this week, my work is done (for now). I received my first rejection within 24 hours from a chap who didn't appear to like it at all, no constructive feedback, just a rejection. Brilliant.
I've talked before on this blog about never giving up, writing is a business that rewards dedication to the craft. Somebody I know, who has been writing for 20+ years, is giving up, this is if he doesn't sell a script in the next year. I felt bad when I read this. I completely understand why he's doing it, in his words he needed to 'grow up'. It's so sad though as he worked so hard for years, I don't know him well, but well enough to care.
Another thing out of my hands is Norwich City Football Club who continue to fall further down the table, a point on Saturday - not good enough. Bryan Gunn seems decent enough, but I don't care if he's a "Norwich legend" or not, he shouldn't be manager, I said it after his 4-0 victory against Barnsley and I'll continue to say it. What annoys me more than anything about NCFC at the moment is how the club (probably Neil Doncaster) have now come up with the idea of charging people 25 quid to come and listen to Gunn talk about management and motivation, he's been in the job 5 minutes and hasn't had that much success, we are third bottom and looking doomed, yet they try and milk money out of us further by putting on an event such as this. Pointless.
I'm working on a new idea now. It's a screenplay. I don't want it to be a British film because they never impress me. Also, all British films seem to star Jason Statham. America is where it's at for everything really, they make better TV and much better film, plus they do Double Stuffed Oreos. They are far more advanced than us, I'm a fan of ITV drama The Bill, but that would have been axed years ago if it were American. I can't see the Americans tuning in every Thursday to follow the adventures of Tony Stamp, can you?
