Class from Craig Bellamy, comedy from Mark Hughes
I don’t want to turn this into an anti-Manchester City page – but yesterday’s derby at Old Trafford was a Premier League classic.
I’ve always been a big Craig Bellamy fan (the footballer, at least) and he scored a couple of cracking goals.
Although his second seemed a mistake from United keeper Ben Foster, it also came from Bellamy’s patience and composure in front of goal - the sort of style honed at Colney and enjoyed at Carrow Road.
He just waited for the keeper to commit before rolling the ball home.
But even though they were playing United, I just couldn’t bring myself to want ‘Man Citeh’ to take anything from the game.
It's the same with Fulham, Wigan, Blackburn and Chelsea. Having too much money just feels like cheating.
That’s probably why most are amused by Ipswich and Roy Keane at moment, having felt sorry for Jim Magilton.
Match of the Day 2 has Michael Owen’s winner timed at a second after the final whistle should have been blown.
I loved Mark Hughes’ comments afterwards: “United were given a little more time than they should have been given to get the goal.
“Historically it has happened before. I was in teams here where we always had a little bit of benefit. I never felt it was an issue when we played here. But since I have left maybe I have changed my view on that.”
Presumably that’s because it’s not going your way any more, Sparky? You’ll have to throw a bit more money at it instead.
