Norwich City speculation - I know you love it

This is always a strange time of year – and we always seem to get up the backs of a fair few Norwich fans.

It is the same scenario, and I’ve been on the other side of the fence fairly recently – the expectation of news on Norwich City, when most people are on holiday (no, really, Worthy wasn’t just saying it).

Okay, so there are some players and whoever that have hung around, are yet to fly off or have even been and returned in time for June.

But the football merry-go-round does notably ease off once a club’s fixture list has been completed and it doesn’t start up again properly until preseason training returns – only three weeks away, might I add.

I’ve never written a transfer speculation story that I haven’t been able to either stand up or mitigate in some way; it wouldn’t be fair to just make something up.

In fact, the one story that did feel like I was stretching things a most was the suggestion last summer that Antoine Sibierski was destined for Norwich. His agent even told me “no chance”.

A lot of people find it easy to have a go at us, but the fact is there’s plenty of speculation out there and a free rein to report it.

After all, no one at the club will comment on it either way.

That is the way to report the summer and to get people to talk about what is happening at Norwich City – and deep down all of us fans love it.

Of course, this summer there are also the issues at a level higher than the playing and coaching staff, but that deserves a post all to itself and will have to wait until tomorrow…
