Gabriel Sara has been beaten to the Championship's goal of the month award by West Brom's Okay Yokuslu.
The Norwich City midfielder had been nominated for his searing strike in a 5-0 March win over Rotherham United, but has lost out in the fan-voted award to Yokuslu's 25-yard thunderbolt.
Sara finished second in the player of the season voting for his club yesterday, losing the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy to occasional midfield partner Kenny McLean. He's scored 13 goals and made 12 assists in an impressive campaign so far.
Speaking about the goal of the month, Yokuslu said: “I’m really pleased and proud to win this award.
“The goal was such a great moment for the team - and it was great for me, too, because it was my birthday the day before and that was the perfect present.
“I remember the moment I hit it, I was pretty sure it was going to go in. It was a very good goal and probably one of the best I’ve ever scored.”
