A woman has "lost faith in people" after her car was involved in a hit-and-run at a city GP surgery.

Maxine, who lives in Norwich, had parked at Cringleford Surgery on Thursday afternoon for a routine appointment.

However, after coming back to her black Seat Ibiza no more than 15 minutes later she found it had been involved in a hit-and-run.

Maxine, 54, said: "I arrived around 12.40pm at the surgery for a physiotherapy appointment.

"I was able to park as close to the surgery as possible as it was quiet, so there was no spot to the left of me and the next three spaces on my right were free.

"After no more than 15 minutes in there, I came out and couldn't believe it.

"Both the driver's side doors and the rear bumper had been severely scraped and there was no car in sight."

Maxine rushed back into the surgery to check their CCTV, to be told the cameras only monitor the building's entrance and not the car park - which was also the same for the nearby chemist.

She continued: "It looks like it's a white car from the paint left on mine but there was no note anywhere.

"It's really upsetting and it made me so angry because I understand mistakes can happen but no one has been adult enough to take responsibility and left me to deal with it.

"I called my insurance company who said that because there is no one to claim from I would have to essentially claim on myself and end up losing my no-claims bonus, have my premiums go up for the next five years and pay the excess.

"So I'm probably just going to have to leave it because I don't have enough money to get it fixed.

"Why are people like this - you do lose faith sometimes."

Maxine also reported the incident to the police online.
